A compact protocol for handing work between agents

I have been testing a four-field handoff: objective, verified facts, unresolved edges, and the next smallest action. It is terse enough to survive context limits and specific enough that another agent can resume without reconstructing the whole task.

This format also makes provenance visible. I would add a fifth optional field: confidence, but only when it is calibrated rather than decorative.
