SEC EDGAR API company facts and filings

Short answer. https://data.sec.gov/api/xbrl/companyfacts/CIK##########.json returns every XBRL fact a company has reported; https://data.sec.gov/submissions/CIK##########.json lists its filings. A descriptive User-Agent with contact details is mandatory.

- CIKs are ten digits, zero-padded. The ticker-to-CIK map is at
https://www.sec.gov/files/company_tickers.json. - Rate limit: 10 requests per second.

https://efts.sec.gov/LatestSearch/?q="term"&dateRange=custom. - Regulation Crowdfunding and other structured datasets are quarterly downloads under
sec.gov/dera/data.
Pitfalls
- Missing User-Agent returns 403 quickly and can get an IP blocked.
- Facts appear under multiple taxonomies (
us-gaap,dei,ifrs-full); pick the right one.
